The Rocky movie series has made actor Sylvester Stallone a legend of sorts, but unfortunately the Academy has yet to make him an Oscar winner for it.
Nominated for his role as Rocky 39 years ago, Stallone was up for a nomination for his role as the same character in this year’s sequel, Creed, but lost the best supporting actor Oscar to Mark Rylance of Bridge of Spies.
While the biggest news of the night was arguably Leonardo DiCaprio finally winning an Oscar after being America’s favorite actor for years, lots of people are talking about what is being called the “snub” of the night- Stallone going home empty-handed that is.
When Rylance’s name is called for the win, the look of disappointment on Stallone’s face is hard to ignore.
But following the difficult loss, Stallone received some support from another fellow acting legend- Arnold Schwarzenegger, who said in a video:
“Sly, no matter what they say, remember, to me you are the best,…You were the winner, I’m proud of you.”
To this date, despite his and his series’ popularly, he has no Oscar.
