Donnie Wahlberg may not be quite as famous as his movie-star brother Mark, but the New Kids on the Block member has himself a Guinness Book World Record.
The singer/Blue Bloods actor has taken more selfies than anyone else ever has in a three-minute period. That’s an impressive feat given the current selfie-obsessed culture and the number of stars who seem to spend all day taking pictures of themselves.
Wahlberg accomplished the feat during his band’s annual cruise packed with fans of the 80s hit-makers. The record-setting attempt was planned ahead of time, and was duly recorded, reported The Wrap.
A Guinness representative was on the ship to witness the singer’s attempt, and officially declared Wahlberg as the record holder. According to the organization’s official website, the record was previously held by Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company in Singapore, where 119 selfies were taken on Sept. 28.
Each picture was taken with a different fan of the 80s band. One person after another was hustled into the shot allowing Wahlberg to quickly snap a pic in order to break the record.
The question, of course, is how long will this record stand? Taking 120 selfies in three minutes equals three every single second. That’s a lot, but it seems like a number another star could easily shatter if only for the added publicity.
For now though, add this to the long list of accolades held by Wahlberg and the New Kids on the Block. Or to be more direct…your move Backstreet Boys.
