There’s no doubt that the UK had a huge influence on the tunes from the 80s. Hazel O’Connor was one of those electrifying 80s artists from the UK and now she is back that is, if you can make it to Sheffield, England.
“Hazel O’Connor has announced the show, performing songs from Breaking Glass, Sons & Lovers and Cover Plus, at Sheffield University’s The Foundry on Sunday, November 19,” according to TheStar.
“The 62-year-old singer-songwriter, from Coventry, enjoyed success in the early 1980s with singles such as 1980 top-five hit ‘Eighth Day,’ ‘D-Days,’ a number 10 hit in 1981 and its follow-up ‘Will You,’ which reached number eight the same year, as well as starring in the film Breaking Glass alongside Quadrophenia star Phil Daniels,” the report continued.
There is absolutely no forgetting that futuristic, Tron-like video for “Eighth Day.” The edgy track featured epic 80s sounds including a synth-heavy production. It was a powerhouse of a track and it’s still among some of our favorite tracks.
“The award-winning singer, writer and actress became an overnight sensation after her BAFTA nominated portrayal of Kate in the 1980 smash-hit film,” according to the report.
It’s a shame those of us in the U.S. won’t be able to watch O’Connor in action during her upcoming show. However, in today’s technological age, we won’t be surprised if there was a way to stream it during or, after the event.
